Palliative Care |
Sometimes medical solutions simply aren't enough to conquer cancer, heart disease or other serious illnesses. When that occurs, North Kansas City Hospital's Palliative care team provides the support patients and families need to help patients live their remaining days in comfort and dignity. During the patient's hospital stay, the palliative care team prepares family members for the physical and emotional changes that occur during the course of the serious illness, and helps them deal with unresolved issues.
Our palliative care teams consist of nurses, physicians, chaplains, social workers, pharmacists, dietitians and physical, occupational and speech therapists. The team's goal is to relieve physical, emotional and spiritual suffering for patients and their families. Team members honor patients' life experiences, values and beliefs, and help them understand the options they have in their care. The palliative care team provides comfort, compassion, privacy and dignity to each patient and family while easing fear and pain.
